SOLar SPECtral irradiance measurements.

SOLSPEC

SOLSPEC is the observation of the solar spectrum irradiance from 165 nm to 3100 nm with the following aims:

(1) Achievement of absolute measurement (with uncertainties of 1.25% in UV and 1% in the            visible and IR)

(2) Study of solar variability over both short and long time scales beginning os solar cycle 24.

(3) Correlative studies between the spectral and the total solar irradiance, utilizing other instruments on the ISS (SOVIM and SOLACES) and the atmospheric and climatological implications of their variabilities

The SOLSPEC instrument is fully refurbished and improved wrt the experience gained in the previous missions (Spacelab-01, Atlas-1, Atlas-2, Atlas-3, Eureca). The  instrument comes from the Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy (IASB-BIRA) and the French Service d'Aéronomie du CNRS.
