Flight Day 9, the EVA3 is on going

The 3rd Extra Vehicular Activity of mission 1E/122

15th February - 15:00 The 2 American astronauts, Rex Walheim and Stanley Love have just left the airlock. They are on the way to the shuttle. Once the Canadian robotic arm positioned near the cargo bay,  astronauts will start to unmount SOLAR from its position on the ICC-Lite.

The following hours will be crucial for SOLAR. Here at B.USOC (the contol center of SOLAR), the flight control team is on the starting block, scientists and the payload developper are on site to support us.

The first activation of SOLAR should start at 23:20 local time.


UPDATE:
Astronauts have successfully completed a spacewalk to install the Columbus external experiment facilities, SOLAR and the European Technology Exposure Facility. The facilities will now be activated and checked out before starting to collect the first data later this month.
